I have a 1971 FX with a four speed tranny. I would like to add a new clutch perch with the new ring style clutch cable end. Is there any way to make it work with the old style clutches?

We got the ultima 6 speed in the softail box, no gearsets are available so you can get the whole trans and pull the gears put it in a 98 RK
Noticed that there is not an oil slinger on the adj shaft under the ultima trans cover, it has the throw out bearing but no slinger
Is that right?
Can't put the old slinger and rod in, it's too short in the rod department and the slinger kicks out the rod to far to get the cover on.
So slinger or no slinger on your units?

Hi all!
Got a problem. 88 softail springer backfires at 65 to 70 mph +. Carb rebuilt. new intake, gaskets, ect. new ignition module, circuit breakers, ect. Have a new ignition switch but not installed. Does this with the lights on. does not do it with them off. All grounds are tight and look good. Some one told me the rev limiter needs to be adjusted. Do i even have one on this model. please help. tired of throwing money at this thing.

Is there any way for me to use newer style controls on my old 71 FX? I bought a set of take off's from a local shop here. I believe I will be able to adapt the master cyl with the right fitting, but I have no idea about the clutch cable. Any suggestions or idea's?
