Well today is my 1st day on the floor of Depot. Even though I am in the lumber dept. I bet I get a lot questions like "where are the terlit flusher handles?" I'm not supposed to point so they better be prepared for a wise arse answer! :rant:

It's raining like crazy so I am very disappointed I won't be riding to worktoday. I would have felt better having my scooter there just in case I wanted to quit in a very dramatic way. (See D-Day in Animal House).

The conversation,dialogue and discussion here has been real invigorating and stimulating over the last couple days. I just want to say I've greatly enjoyed my time here and the gentlemanly way that everyone has conducted themselves. I only hope that I have, in my well meaning manner, been as equally gentlemanly towards everyone here. If I have not, if I have offended anyone I apologize. It was not my intention. Again thanks for the vigorous conversation....keep up the good work.

Before you jump on bashing the author read the article. He's not bashing HD mean spiritedly and he makes in my opinion valid observations. As a die hard lifetime HD guy and till the end I see some validity to some things he points out. I believe there are some redeeming tips in this article that will help a HD owner avoid future mechanical failure:

...is coming in the mails. Two reasons why I'm switchin'. 1.) I keep burning holes in the foam whenever the ol' thang coughs, usually when I start it. And 2.) When I ride, my leg is right on the mesh air cleaner I now have and it has oil stained all my jeans just below the knee.

Anyhow, when it arrives I will post pics. The air cleaner is pretty cool looking. Has louvers in the edge of the chrome cover and the filter is corrugated paper. I can upgrade the filter to a K&N later.

Tattoo tells me I need to switch from a 46 to a 48 pilot to eliminate the coughing at starting. I'll see what the new air cleaner does first, as I suspect it won't let quite as much air in as the one I have now...

I have been having some issues with my headlights on the Road Glide. I took HRK;s advice and went with the Ultra Silver Star bulbs as I was looking for a brighter light than the PIAA's that came in my bike when I bought it. I liked the Silver Star's very much but them I discovered that they gave out really fast. I opened up the fairing and reinstalled the PIAA's. As I was reinstalling them, I noticed that the connectors that go on the bulbs were melted. There was power going to them as the lights were lighting up, however I noticed that one of the lights was really dim. Again, however, if I were to jostle the bezel around a little I will get full power to the lights and they are at full strength.

Here is my question. Do you think that it would be better to replace the entire wire...
