Hi, everyone, I am new to the forum and in need of help, as I am at my wits end! I have an 87 sportster that is having an issue with my battery going dead while on a ride and leaving me stranded! Battery terminals are clean and tight, voltage regulator is grounded to the frame, stator output is 50+ volts when rpms are increased. I have replaced the battery, voltage regulator, and stator and still having the same problem. I am still not getting 13 - 14 volts to the battery when running. Very frustrating!!! Any input welcome! Thanks!

Off this morning to do a pre-ride with the RC's into Ct. for the Sunday club ride. Should be about 300 miles. Weather heating-up again. Should be just aboout 90 this afternoon. Thankfully the humidity will be moderate.

Hi all, I have a 1998 1200 sportster , a while back I had some issues like the bike was shutting off and then coming back on with a big BANG! It did this a few times. then would go away and not do it again for a while, then the charging system quit charging , So,, New battery and a voltage regulatur later we are charging again , and I changed the coil just becouse I thought maybe that what was cousing the ocational BANG! So we went on a couple poker runs about 250 300 miles or so and she ran great , started to ride it to work the other day and 10 miles up the road she starts again, just like someone is shutting the swich off and turning it back on, Not so much if ya baby it , only if ya try to use power, I am a Mechanic, not a bike mechanic.
