i want to build a custom exhaust for my bike, im wondering if there are different types of torque cones and if they are always needed if i dont put any baffles in...

After reading through many of the threads and the issues with dealer service, the question I have, and am truly asking) is why do you go the dealers for basic service. I understand warranty work but I do not use the dealers for anything else.

I started going to Indys many years ago. I find a shop I trust, most important the tech and develop a relationship with the shop. I have very few complaints and if something goes wrong they back it up. The prices are cheaper, the service is better and I feel appreciated.

I could do much of the work myself but getting the bike work done at my Indy is a good way to get out of the house and the shop I use gets the bike in and out while I wait for things llike tires, oil chages etc.

Well, I must be doing something right in school!! I opened up the mail tonite, and found an invitation to join Sigma Theta Tau International (not a social college Greek system, but a professional type of organization per the wife)..... Not 100% sure what it is yet, but my wife told me that it is a GREAT honor to be invited. So, am going to have to do some research on that to find out if it is something I want to do. According to wife, grades must be good, and often must be recommended by staff/instructors based on community service, or other criteria along with grades...it is not just a shoe in...... SO, that makes for an interesting evening for me! Anyone familiar with this? If so, sing out!!!

Well, this isn't bike related, but it's the time of year for projects. Unfortunately, I pulled my boat into my shop for seasonal repairs. To make a long story short, I had a suspicion for a while that my inboard fuel tank had been leaking, (and by the way I had NOT been using the boat thinking that it was leaking), well my thoughts were correct. The plywood/fiberglass support under the tank was completely rotted out and soaked with gasoline. After spending 2 hours with three guys digging out the polyisocyanurate foam around the tank we got it out. Then starting digging out the remaining foam, the fuel smell was so bad it was burning my eyes. I had to turn on fans and open the windows before we passed out. What a pain in the A**!! What are the advantages of runnin' an open belt primary on a basically stock harley, instead of the stock chain? (other than the Cool Factor?) Maintenance isn't an issue cuz my M-6 takes care of chain adjustment, and changin primary oil is cheap & easy. Any thoughts?
