I found this site because of the popping from the carb, i have read enough threads on that to know where to start with it. Gonna order a stage 1 kit. It has a free flowing exhaust and cleaner, but don't know if the carb has been messed with at all, dont look like it has
This 883 only has 12K miles and not knowing the history I figure its due for a good servicing. Mostly looks like what im used to except the electronic ignition. I was told to set the timing with a timing light. Not sure how that works yet. And don't have a service manual for it yet either. any tips on this?
Also is there a good place to buy parts for this other that jpcycles? there arent any places close to here for service and parts for these

Hi, I am new to this forum but have been reading about upgrading my 88ci to a 95ci or 97ci (if I go with the s&s big bore kit). I will have my local bike shop put the build together. Need help in choosing the cam, either the andrew's 26 or 37 cam? I will be having the heads mildly ported by my shop and sticking with the stock carb. The bike currently has slip-on mufflers and hi-flow air cleaner w/ a carb. re-jet. Not really ineterested in going over 90 mph and will mostly be riding solo. Any help in guesstimating where my hp/tq might be with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time, Jim

Yup, it's time for me to start seriously planning my little 1200 mile jaunt to the great state of Ohio and back. I am leaving here on two wheels, come rain or come shine - on the 28th and will return on the 4th of July. 7 days in all, with 4 of those days in the saddle.
Perhaps a little background might be interesting . . .
I was raised in Ohio by my aunt & uncle til I was about 10. They had one daughter, a little blonde girl about my age and we grew up like brother and sister. It is at her house that I'll be staying. She is married to a guy who likes old cars and is currently restoring one. It's a Dodge of some kind.
My cousin, whose name is Mary Ellen, is organizing a sort of family reunion around my visit. I haven't seen any of them since 1972, and many I've never...

I cut some grass at some different neighbor's house and one has some Bamboo I have to cut.
Got my Husquvarna chain saw out. The minute I cranked it, Hornets come out like a Batallion and hit me. You could of stabbed me with a Ice Pick and it wouldn't of hurt no worst. One got me super good on my right arm near my elbow on the inside. It feels like you got a rubber ban Pulled real tight in my arm and my elbow hurts. It has been a couple hours and I'm still hurting like it just happened.
Had to wait a hour to go back and git my chain saw. The hornets wouldn't get off it.
Took Spectricide Wasp and Hornet spray. They acted like it didn't effect them.
Trying to sit in the air and stay cool and drink a Redneck Bud to make sure I don't git goofy feeling.
This is him
