Purchased a '06 road king police model, used with 1700 m. Initially run great. Developed an intermitent vibration especially noticable at idle and low rpm. Would smooth out at 3000 rpm. But most crusing was in the "vibration" range. Seemed to come and go for no apparent reason. The salesman told me when I bought the bike (if a salesmans lips are moving he's lieing) that it had a stage 1 down load. It did have the stage 1 air can and screaming eagle mufflers. I since put V&H true duels and rush mufflers with 2 1/2" baffles as one of the eagles had a hole in it. Added a power commander and downloaded the recommended map. Problem still exisists. Been to 3 garages 1 HD, 1 power commander center and 1 private. Get 3 different answers and no solutions. However my wife is smiling...

Well guys/gals, I finally finished all the modifications on my 04 Sportster. I really tore into it over the winter months while I had it in my living room, and finally got her back on the road. I must say everything went absolutely perfect and it now runs probably better than new. Some of the additions and repairs I did are as follows:

Replaced both rear shocks to 12 1/2 inches, I didn't like the shorties.
Replaced front headlight with Harley nacelle, Just like the enclosed look.
Replaced pitted fender struts, Speedometer houshing, rear turn signals, mirrors, timing cover, and grips.
Added new style harley solo seat with seperate passenger seat.
Added chrome gas tank console, side cover wing tips, Harley security alarm with siren, rear LED turn signal supports, front standard...

hey there all bike owners, I need some advice on purchasing a newer bike. I am unsure about buying a Harley. If I do buy one it will probably be a sportster because I don't have a lot of money to spend on something more, but I worry about comfort on the longer rides. I checked out the new Harley nightster 1200 which looks really nice, but it is still a sportster.
I like the honda shadows and they ride nice and are a lot cheaper than a harley, plus I want something that is at least and 1100 or bigger.
so if anyone can offer any advice on what to buy it would be great.

When Veterans Retire

When a good Veteran leaves the "job" and retires to a better
life, many are jealous, some are pleased and yet others, who may have
already retired, wonder. We wonder if he knows what they are leaving
behind, because we already know. We know, for example, that after a
lifetime of camaraderie that few experience, it will remain as a longing
for those past times. We know in the Military life t here is a fellowship
which lasts long after the uniforms are hung up in the back of the
closet. We know even if he throws them away, they will be on him with
every step and breath that remains in his life. We also know how the
very bearing of the man speaks of what he was and in his heart still is.

just installed a new tire on my 99 fxdwg. the tire i took off had 8,000 miles on it. and all this time the arrow going in the wrong direction. but the bike handled great. so my question is why do they want you to install the tire in the same direction as the tire turns or in the diection it gos down the road. thanks
