Friend of mine stopped by today with a 06 softail making a tinny type knock in upper end. Gets to be more steady and louder as bike gets warm. I'm thinking maybe a lifter going south but would like some more input. Bike has 41000 mi. and never been worked on as far as I know. If it is a lifter does anyone know if you can put adjustables push rods in without disturbing the rocker boxes?

Rode up to Boone, NC today for a bike rally. About 100 miles each way. Not much going on there other than the frozen tee shirt contest. Was cool.... but ride up good, took Blue Ridge Parkway back, slow but fun...

well, i got all my top end done, everything stuffed back into place and ready to start. NOTHING...spent 3/4's of the day tracing wires. found my starter solenoid was warm. ok, it's in the ignition circuit...cool, it's narrowed down. removed all the wires from the solenoid and found the switch post shorted to ground, as well as one side of the contacts. hmmmm. then i find that the fused wire from the battery is also shorted to ground. i ain't liking this...very long story and many hours, anyway, i found the short. i had moved my handlebars and controls and pinched the grey ignition wire. hooked up the battery and all is well, except that my solenoid is still unhooked and i will have to kick start until solenoid arrives.

the question is...what are the odds that this fried anymore...

i have a 2005 electra glide.
it lost oil pressure and harley replaced the cam plate. it did great .
then the tensioner was wearing so had the hydralic tensioner put in with new lifters and cam or cam plate.
was holdiing oil pressure till i let i set up for a several months.
now oil pressure stays just below 32 on the oil gauge when riding but at idle drops to almost zero.
anybody got any ideas? i use synthetic oil. could the filter be clogged from not riding?
help!
