KNow a lot of folks has a new bike and or gonna get a new bike.
Wanted to Pass this alone.
It started about 8 months ago. HD has tigthened up their warranty policy.
So if the dealership says they can't warranty it. Its not the dealership its HD new policy.
To replace a battery, the dealership had to do test on the battery for like 7 hours.
HD don't make the battery, Deka does.
HD don't make their pipes or mufflers , somebody else does.
A dealership got a O.K. to warranty a engine.
After warrantying the engine, HD will not pay the dealership 5000 for a engine and install. Seems like HD baited the dealership and is watching them.
HD says the dealership was suppose to do all kinds of test on the motor before replacing it. Before when they said O.K. they never said anything...

I have a 2005 Sportster 1200 Custom with a stock carb. The only number I can find on it is HD part #27731-04. Nothing saying what brand it is. There is another number on side of carb bowl - L28A DSFG. I'm trying to find a rebuild kit for it, but don't have any idea where to begin looking. Nothing references th HD number and I don't know what brand kit to look under. Could someone please get me going in the right direction? Thanks.

My son is the proud owner of a 2005 Sporty 883 Low. We decided to put a set of V&H straight shot slip ons on. Before we went down the rejet road, we did extensive research of the pros and cons of rejetting after new pipes were installed.
So we installed the pipes and decided to see how the bike ran before we touched the carb or filter. (I have a K&N filter and a 44 and 46 pilot needle in reserve). The bike runs great without any carb or filter modifcations.
So here's the question. Is there anything to be gained by adding the K&N and potentially rejetting the carb or am I better off leaving well enough alone.
BTW, I'm from the old school that if it's running right, leave the tools in the toolbox.
Input is appreciated.
