Hello everyone,
I'm new here and just came across this site while I was looking for information on modifying my Harley CV carb. This site looked like a good place to get some expert advice on my 2004 Harley Sportster 883 custom. I'm an old guy who has been riding motorcycles on and off for over 43 years and just purchased the above Harley, used, in pretty good condition with the exception of some minor problems. I'm not real familiar with Harley's since this was my first one so the first thing I did was buy the Harley Service manual for my bike. When I got the bike home I noticed it running super rich, blowing out alot of black smoke from the exhaust, backfiring, and it smelled like raw gas. Hello all...I'm new to the forum..I have a 1998 sportster when I start her even if it is warm outside I have to use the choke and it has to stay on until the bike is warm or it bogs out...If I try and give it gas before it is warm it also bogs down...Once it is warm I can take the choke off but it idles at 1500..I pulled the main jet out and cleaned it still the same..I'm thinking the pilot jet is cloged or the mixture screw has to be adjusted..The seal is still on the screw..Also when I pulled the plug it was white..Not getting enough gas?..Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Just returned from a l-o-n-g trip, much of it on the Interstate, and I got to
thinking about adding cruise control to my FLHRS. Has anyone done this or
have any insight as to the pros and cons? Thanks in advance.
